Janice Carapellucci
Janice Carapellucci began her dance career at age 9, taking ballet lessons from "Miss Madeline" of Pittsfield, MassachusettsMadeline Cantarello Culpo, founder of the Albany Berkshire Ballet. Ms. Carapellucci's ballet instruction continued through her teenage years with Evelyn Kenney of Wayne, Pennsylvania, a teacher associated with the Pennsylvania Ballet Compay. Later, in New York, she took a smattering of classes in modern dance at the Alvin Ailey School.
Other than the occasional office party or wedding, she didn't dance much after that until she attended a Sandra Cameron Dance Center Guest Night in 1990. She registered for Basic 6 and hasn't stopped dancing since.
In 1998 she became an instructor at Sandra Cameron Dance Center, teaching beginner and pre-intermediate ballroom classes. She also performs frequently.
Emphasizing that she's like many Sandra Cameron Dance Center studentsan amateur dancer who works a desk job during the dayMs. Carapellucci is proud to be proof that anyone can learn to danceand have fun doing it!
Her goal is to still be dancing on her 80th birthday, and anyone who's still around is invited to the party.
