Jose Miguel Rosario
Jose Miguel Rosario was born in the
Dominican Republic and grew up
surrounded by the sounds of Salsa,
Merengue and Bachata. At age 10,
Jose moved to New York City. There, as
a teen, he learned to play the trumpet
and various Latin percussion
instruments. As his interest in music
deepened, Jose also found creative
expression in dance, and became a
favorite performer with numerous social
Latin bands. His performances were
featured at some of New York City’s
premier Latin clubs: Club Broadway,
Latin Quarters, Fuego Fuego,
Palladium, Roseland, Copa Cabana and
more. Jose has served as a
spokesperson for the Latin music and
dance scene with appearances on the
Martha Stewart show, Good Morning
America, and Good Day New York. He
has also been featured in The New York
Post and in The Sunday Times
Magazine. Jose has also appeared in
salsa documentary films as an instructor
and performer.
Jose joined the military and spent several years overseas and traveling across the globe. In
2001, upon his return to New York City, Jose joined the Sandra Cameron Dance Center staff
as a Salsa instructor. He is currently teaching all levels of Salsa as well as private classes in
Merengue and Bachata. Jose extends his passion for dance into the community by producing
social events throughout the year that feature his favorite Latin bands from the greater New
York area. Many of these events take place at the 92nd Street Y, where Jose is on the faculty
as a salsa instructor and event coordinator for the 92Y Harkness Dance Center (www.92y.org).
Jose has maintained a unique dance style throughout his career and performed in many
public and private events throughout New York City and neighboring states. His dynamic
routines and thorough teaching techniques have given him a dedicated following of Latin
dance students in the Greater Metropolitan Area. The culture and diversity that pervades
the New York City salsa scene has always been an inspiration, and continues to be, as
Jose shares his passion for Latin music and dance.
